Elise Laviolette, The Oasis in Kanata’s Program Manager, will share tips and strategies to help caregivers regain vitality by alleviating the stress caregiving places on their nervous system, using simple mental and physical exercises they can do throughout the day.
Caregivers may notice how often they are “ON” and primed to respond to a crisis or a call for help. They may be aware of how often they have to dig deep and push through. Caregivers know these activities are necessary and beneficial for their loved one living with mental illness, and that, over time, caregiving can leave them feeling exhausted. Elise says, “I think it would helpful for caregivers to understand simple ways to offer their nervous system some self-care without having to add a time-consuming item to their to-do list.”
All are welcome. No registration required. See the attached poster for details.
Location for all sessions: Glen Cairn United Church, 140 Abbeyhill Drive, Kanata.
