CHEO is a pediatric hospital that provides various mental health services to children, youth and families up to age 16-18.
Special Services During Pandemics (e.g. COVID/Corona), Disasters and Related Emergencies
During COVID, mental health services at CHEO have changed. Outpatient services are still being offered VIRTUALLY, i.e. via telephone, or via videoconferencing (i.e. Ontario Telemedicine Network or Zoom). Inpatient services are significantly more restricted and thus only available for the most severe psychiatric emergencies.

Back-On-Track Program
Program for youth who 1) have not attended school regularly over the past 6 months due to depression and/or anxiety, and 2) would like to work towards completing their high school education, and 3) who are aged 13-17. The program has a significant parental support and education component. The core Back-on-Track team consists of teachers, a Child and Youth Counsellor, Psychology and Psychiatry.

A program of the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and the Ottawa-Carleton Catholic School Board (OCCSB).

The classroom is physically located at Immaculata Catholic High School, on 140 Main Street, Ottawa.

Exclusion criteria (i.e. youth that would not be a good fit for this program)
* Externalizing behaviors such as truancy, aggression or violence.
* ASD diagnosis
* Complex mental health disorders such as borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia, etc.
* Acute self-harming and/or suicidal ideation
* Daily drug use and/or substance dependence

CHEO provides a variety of Day Treatment Programs, such as:
* Back on Track School Program (for youth with troubles attending school due to anxiety or mood problems), based at Immaculata High School.
* Steps to Success Program (for children with troubles attending mainstream school programs due to emotional/behavioural difficulties), based at St. Luke's Catholic School.
* Millenium Ado Program (for francophone youth who have troubles in mainstream school due to emotional/behavioural difficulties), based Gisele Lalonde High School in Orleans

Access to all Day Treatment Programs is done through the Coordinated Access and Referral Committee of Ottawa. All referrals must come from the schools.

CHEO offers a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) group, which is a treatment shown helpful for individuals who have problems with emotional regulation.

Diversity Clinic
CHEO’s multidisciplinary Diversity Clinic offers information, comprehensive assessment and treatment (which can include hormonal interventions) to children, youth and their families when there are questions regarding gender identity. Referrals are welcomed from but not limited to community providers. Referrals are also accepted from schools, parents and the youth themselves.

Eating Disorders Program
Provides inpatient and outpatient services for children and youth who suffer from an eating disorder.

The inpatient program provides specialized treatment for severely ill children and youth requiring hospitalization. Patients benefit from specialized treatment that addresses their medical, psychiatric, academic, psychological and nutritional needs.

Additionally, CHEO provides intensive day treatment, outpatient assessment and follow-up services.

A mental health promotion and early intervention program run ‘by youth for youth' with full professional support through the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Services include focus groups, presentations, support groups, and activity based initiatives.

Youth Net is a national program, with satellite affiliates in various locations across the country.
