We primarily offer neuropsychological and psychological assessments and treatments to adolescents (12 and up), adults, and seniors. Unfortunately, we do not offer services to children at this time but this will likely change in the near future.
We specialize in psychological (e.g., depression and anxiety) and brain-based difficulties (e.g., concussion, TBI, stroke, seizure disorders, ADHD, age-related cognitive changes, early stages of Alzheimer's disease/dementia).
In addition to comprehensive assessments, we provide evidence-based therapies including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), biofeedback, neurofeedback, and neuromodulation (e.g., CES, transcranial photobiomodulation), to individuals with brain-based disorders (e.g., stroke, TBI, seizure disorders, ADHD, early stage dementia) anxiety (e.g., Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Panic Disorder), depression (e.g., Adjustment Disorders, Major Depressive Disorder), or medical conditions with psychological/stress components (e.g., chronic pain).
In addition to traditional forms of assessment, we also provide psychophysiological stress testing and quantitative electroencephalographs (qEEG).
Patients include adolescents, adults, or seniors. Most patients pay out of pocket. We also see patients referred by the WSIB, veterans, first responders, motor vehicle accident victims, and those receiving short or long-term disability benefits (STD/LTD).
Very occasionally, we see those involved in the criminal justice system, primarily for treatment.
Dr. Friesen is also a professional member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA) and provides treatment (if psychological or neurological problems are present) or mental skills coaching/consulting to elite athletes.
