9:30 - 4:00pm

Location

Toronto, ON

Event Description

This training provides theoretical knowledge, clinical approaches, and specific techniques which are indispensable in treating these challenging high risk young clients. The treatment approach is clear enough to help determine direction and order of approach while flexible enough to adapt to real clients in the real world, regardless of their trauma and attachment histories. Although a clear model in itself, it allows room for the individuality and approach of each therapist so that the therapeutic relationship continues to evolve in a way that is genuine and unique.

Participants will be able to:
-Understand the neurological, emotional, and behavioural impacts of complex trauma including chronic trauma, pre-verbal trauma and disrupted attachment
-Recognize the clinical presentation of complex trauma and developmental trauma disorders
-Identify dissociative symptoms and understand the specific treatment needs of dissociative children and adolescents
