Intimate Partner Violence is a challenging aspect of many high conflict family cases. A strong and dynamic relationship between the family court system and clinical services is essential to effectively servicing these families.
This relationship will be explored in the context of a case study and panel discussion.
Objectives for Professionals
-Understand the effects of intimate partner violence on children, parents and parenting
-Learn about the process for screening and risk assessment
-Discuss considerations for making decisions about parenting plans
-Create awareness of the complex issues in providing legal and clinical services to families experiencing violence

Service Providers and Family Court are challenged by increased reports of intimate partner violence (IPV). In this workshop Robin M. Deutsch Ph.D will review the effects of IPV on children, parents, and parenting. The workshop will provide an overview of a process for screening, evaluation, and decision-making around parenting plans, with considerations of treatment and other interventions when working with IPV and high conflict families.Intimate Partner Violence is a challenging aspect of many high conflict family cases.
